Health Technology Assessment and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Systems

Thematic Area: AI, Healthcare, Technology
Reference No. of the Track: 40

Description

Artificial intelligence and Digital health technology have fuelled a revolution in healthcare, especially since Pandemic crippled the global healthcare system. Digital health technologies comprise mobile health, health information technology, wearable devices, telehealth, telemedicine, mobile Internet devices and personalized medicine, and recently, innovative technological advancements that are influencing smart health are AI, metaverse, and data sciences. These technologies lead to better prevention; the early detection of fatal diseases; and the remote management of chronic diseases peripherally to the customary care locations, such as wirelessly observed therapy, following a novel method of monitoring adherence to therapy. Notably, the necessity for deploying Digital health technology and AI has become a requirement to offer health services anywhere and at any time in the age of disruptive and minimally invasive medicine. The applications have surged due to the substantially enhanced computing power of modern computers and the vast amount of digital data available for collection and utilisation. Artificial intelligence technologies are being used for a range of healthcare applications. However, Digital health technology and artificial intelligence also faces various technical, ethical, and governance challenges as it moves forward in healthcare. It raises data security- and privacy-related issues because it utilizes sensitive and confidential data bound by legal panels. The use of the Digital health technology and artificial intelligence in addressing challenges could be limited by the quality of existing health data and application’s failure to reflect certain human characteristics.
